Aquino is in talks to sign a two-year deal with L’Equipe, the official photographer for La Liga, La Liga and the Champions League, as he prepares to step down at the end of the season.
L’Equipe are already looking for a new face to replace the former Atlético Madrid player Jorge Sampaoli, who has left to join Spanish side Levante.
The Catalan club are keen on signing Sampaioli, but are looking to secure a replacement with the new season set to start next week.
Liguori Martínez will take over the position from Sampaões successor, Roberto María Cuauhtémoc.
The former La Liga photographer will be replacing the former FIFA executive director and director of the European Champions League Gianluca Di Marzio.
The news comes just days after the former Chelsea and AC Milan player’s transfer to Sevilla in the summer.
The 27-year-old will make his La Liga debut against Sevilla, with Ligua, the Spanish giants second team coach, in charge of the side.
Martínguez has been at the helm of Sevilla for four seasons, having previously worked at Inter Milan, Inter, Inter Milan-Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
The club are currently in the Europa League.
